The Libra

Venus-ruled
September 24-October 23
Quality Cardinal
Element Air

Key Word - HARMONY

Blind-folded Venus - Libra- loves a smile;
Loves to attract, allure, charm and beguile.
This seventh zodiacal sign we see
Work for Diplomacy and Harmony.

When seated in the cusp of any house
Well is the bride, and lucky is the spouse;
With Venus ruling, and so close at hand.
To marriage, Libra gives her full consent.

Grace, beauty, and sweet harmony hold sway
Both, judge and juror she’s on any day.
Her color, - blue, - her element is air,-
Her counsel sound, her judgment right and fair.

Her mystic Patron, - bright Pallas Athena-
Prompts her to work in any court’s arena.
Exert herself, with great diplomacy
Until the bickering litigants agree.

Balancing issues, listening to each side
And after thoughtful weighing she’ll will decide.
Each party gets her ear, and she takes care
That every litigant gets his due share.

Important to the Romans, who found out
That Rome was founded by her grace and clout.
The Roman Poet, Virgil, got it right,
When in a circle, like the sun, so bright,-

And in his verses thought it just and meet
To put the Libra at Augustus’ feet.
When Cesar woke,- charmed by her Harmonies,
He’d turned into a god and ruled in bliss.

This is the lore. - For cheats she feels disdain,
And smug bamboozlers give her a migraine!.
Sign masculine, whose energy is “Yang” -
That flinches at the lawyer’s nasal twang,

But even so, she hears with sympathy
The plaintive “twang“, when counsels disagree.
One twang she can‘t sustain -it sounds too loud,
The twang that issues from the House of Saud.

Her glyphs are justice’s scales and setting sun
(permits no quibbles, jeux de mots nor pun),
Her flower is the rose,- her Quality
Is CARDINAL, her key word HARMONY.

Her Gem the Lace Agate and the Opal,
A brightly plumed bird her animal.
Here ELEMENT is AIR, - air rarified
That kept the poet Virgil by her side.

She represents the Zenith of the year,
When fruit and crops are harvested and cheer
Fills peasants homesteads and the dance saloon,
Where young chaps sing and dance and geezers croon.

Is diplomatic, elegant, urbane,
And rules as focal point in her domain,
Is critical but always shows good taste,
Is balanced, firm and staid, and loathes waste.

The only sign inanimate she is
That hears attentively the others' sneeze,
For instance as when LEO has a cold,
She cures him with her flower - MARIGOLD.

Her blindfold is a fake, - it has a slit;
And with an naughty smile she peeks through it.
And apprehends at once the bum and rake,
Who in her trial has no peace of cake.-

Has charm and magnetism natural,
Urbane, equanimous, convivial;
She holds the balance high up into air
While dullards battle and the trumpets blare.

Her magnetism’s power stops the strife,
When litigants reach for the wetted knife;
With harmony and justice holding sway.
I end my song, - I have no more to say.

Best Wishes to all Librians!
