Thus speaks Pythagoras:

“The Pentagram, - disciples,- hold in awe
Of all things’ symphysis purports its law.
Hold dear, and meditate the wondrous five,-
A symbol of the web and mesh of life.

King Salomon devised the Pentagram;
And Hexagram, but Japheth, Shem and Ham
Good Noah's sons devined five-angled shapes
While cultivating father’s vines and grapes.

It's called "The Endless Knot" because the line
Is simple, unicurval in design,
And like an “Endless Knot” that guarantees
Its origin in arcane mysteries.

Five fingers and five toes on hand or foot,
To walk, and play the flute or twang the lute.
Five basic colors lie on the palette
That artists mix with care for the portrait.

For all the Fives within the human frame,
The Qabalah Hermetic has a name,
The Pentateuch,- it's books of Laws are Five
Containing Wisdom and God's rules for life.

Five bright Stigmata mark the Savior Lord;
Five times the mother’s heart would pierce the sword.
Twelve Penta-Stars around the “Virgo” gleam,
And blind the dragon cringing at her seam

Five were in number virtues cardinal
Enjoined upon the knights of Camelot Hall.
The Penta-Star across their baldrics glared
When lists were entered while the trumpets blared.



Queen Guinevere stitched it on the coat,
And inner grab of grail knight Lancelot,
Assured he’d be protected by this star
In battles, and adversities of war.

King knight Gawain too clutched this magic star,
When noticing the Green Knight from afar,
And felt he would in fight 'gainst him prevail
Gain grace and strength to find te Holy Grail.

The star was worn by Grail Knight Perceval
A leading champion at Camelot Hall.
Who traveled on his exploits by its light,
Who found this star dependable a guide

But weary warriors laid aside the sword
To draw sweet comfort from the Penta-Chord.
With this sweet instrument, the Troubadour
Sang to his lady "Fealty and Amour".





Great Constantine clutched this "Endless Knot”,
The safety star,- and begged the Christian God
For His assistance at the perilous siege,
Before the battle by the Milvian Bridge.



Facing the daunting foe he prayed and bade
His troops their shields and swords to decorate
With Chi-Rho and the penta star,- and won
The battle for himself and Christendom.

The Magi and the sages recognized
This symbol as the Monogram of Christ,
Chaldea and the city Uruk knew
The meaning of the symbol glyph Chirho.



Wise Zarathustra and his priestly clan
Wore Penta-Stars as magic talisman;
But blinking in the sky this wondrous gem
Led them along their way to Bethlehem.

Five basic colors lie on the palette,
That artists mix when painting a portrait,
Five Senses guide the mortals on their ways
And sensitize in labyrinthic maze.

It’s said of Elements there are but Four,
Untrue! Do not believe it! - there are more,
The Fifth and top point does for Spirit stand,
QUINTESSENCE (F I F T H) - the SPIRIT Element).

The top point is the SPIRIT which transcends
The four familiar earthly elements,;-
It rules above the four in majesty,-
To QUITESSENCE strives all humanity.

This star does stand for "Universal Man"
This knows the artist and the Artisan
Algebra experts take in it delight,
While mathematics students wince with fright.

Of thesis, anthithesis, synthesis,
Analysis and all these mysteries
The Micro- in the Macrocosm wide,
Reveals itself before the seer's sight.



Before he wrote his epic- “Doctor Faust”
The poet Goethe, much intrigued and roused
Did write a lengthy scholarly treatise
In fervent quest to probe its mysteries.



Lone thinkers likewise pondered it for years
Like Blaise Pasqual and his ingenious peers.
They held that shapes and angles thus aligned
Suggest the close-knit mesh of humankind.

Five stresses mark the pentametric line,
That poets use to beg their muse to incline
To drain the sour ale from mug and stein
And fill their empty cups with sparkling wine.

But things did change, - some people nowadays
Misuse the sacred “Five” in banal ways.
Ignore what it does stand for and refuse
To give due awe to glyphs that stand for “Truth”.
