Legends, tales, lost origins so true,
Cinderella, the legend has been lost too you.
I shall tell you the tale of this girl whom we speak,
For she was a girl, mild and meek.
Her name has been lost throughout history.
Her name has been many, her first name to be,
Was a name reflecting her red "Rosy-Cheeks",
Her name was Rhodopis, Slave, servant and Greek.
She was captured and sold for a measly gold piece,
She mourned for Her home, her home back in Greece.
One morn, while bathing on the banks of the Nile,
Her sandals, gold sparkling on her cloths pile.
A bird, huge and large, an eagle did see,
Her glistening gold sandals so swoop down, did he.
He scooped one up and to the Heavens he rose,
‘Till no more could she see him, so high he had flown.”
Lord Ahmose the second, holding judgment of men,
The sandal was flung, so in his lap it did gleam.
The king sat bewildered, for in his mind’s eye,
stood a raven-haired maiden, dressed as his bride.
He glanced down before him, three thieves were to die,
A dawning compassion, his heart had divined.
He said in a soft voice, I grant you reprieve,
Now go forth my good men, please take my leave.
He sent for his Scribes and declared unto them,
Scour these lands, every track, I demand.
Find me the Maiden, of whose foot this shall fit,
And with her hand in mine, my heart will enrich.
For months they did hunt, across lands near and far,
Never finding the maiden to appease the King heart,
Then late one cool eve, a peasant whispered to him,
“Go to the Sphinx by the pyramids, at dawn she will sing”.
So as by her way, her ritual began,
She sung to the dawn, her voice in command.
Startled, she turned as a sound she did hear,
T’was the King who had sighed, his love, it was clear.
From whence he had come, she had no idea.
as the King, he did speak, “I have found you, right here”
Her mind in turmoil, she wondered, you see,
Why the king Lord Almighty was down on one knee?
In his hand she did notice, her slipper he held,
He offered it to her, his face was spellbound.
gold and glistening, like Ra’s warm glow,
She felt love grow inside her, and yes, she did know.
He took her away to lay claim to her hand,
She felt undying love and awe of this man.
Now they are both, long dead and gone,
There tale, there story, right here, lives on.
