Here I Lie...

While he enjoys the company of our child,
Here I lie.
While they share a smile,
Here Iie.
All the while,
Here I cry.

Every moment he shares with my former love,
Here I lie.
When his passion turns into a smack and a shove,
Here I lie.
As she prays for guidance from the one above,
Here I cry.

When he returns home,
Here I lie.
While he hands her a card and a rose,
Here I lie.
Whenever he attempts to apologize,
Here I cry.

After he leaves to places unknown,
Here I lie.
While she reaches for the phone,
Here I lie.
When I don't answer she feels alone,
Here I cry.

He returns late at night with a bottle of wine,
Here I lie.
While he argues to keep her in line,
Here I lie.
As he raises his hand, it is I on her mind,
Here I cry.

As she covers her face,
Here I lie.
As he destroys the place,
Here I lie.
While she remembers my heart displaced,
Here I cry.

Oh wow...A very moving write that I can very much relate to. Excellent format you laid this out in. It gives it a bit of a fast pace, which works well with the emotion and words. Well done!!
