The Proper Lexis

Contributed by ForeverAndADay on Sunday, 3rd July 2005 @ 09:16:24 AM in AEST
Topic: war

It is not us.
It is them.
They are your enemies.
Kill them.

Reason?
What reason do you need?
Your water is gone...
Your children are starving...
Because of them...
What are you going to do about it?

Do you want the truth?
Alright then,
I'll tell you...
If they were dead...
You'd be living...
They are evil...
Don't worry, it isn't wrong.

Innocence?
There is no innocence...
If it helps you sleep at night...
There are no children over there...
There are no women over there...
There are no old men or women over there...
Just men...
With guns...
Stealing away your fortune...
You can't let them do that.

Lies?
How dare you call us liars?
This is the proper lexis...
Everything we say...
Is truth...
They are the liars...
Wash their mouths out...
When your through with them...
They won't have mouths
to eat your food with!

Lies...
Just tell your people lies...
The greater the lie...
The more people will believe...
Until it's all they can believe...
Until it's all they will believe...
The Proper Lexis.
Let the masacre begin.

ahhh the bitter feelings of fighting any war come to play with this poem. war on terrorists war on hunger, poverty, discrimination... war with politics even... as a member of the armed forces. the feeling does arise where you try to forget all emotions tied in to this war and just kill everyone and everything that is trying to defy what others before you worked so hard to establish.... the anger and frustration play a big part.... you say whats so confusing? why not just kill them all... but how can you kill someone who was raised their whole lives believing in things and trying to protect those beliefs....... just like you.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
