About our mothers, sisters or brothers
Some of us write poems
In order to try and help others
Some of us write poems
About the wise the dumb or the mild
Some of us write poems
About our friends or a special child
Some of us write poems
About our, or other lives
Some of us write poems
About those we loved who died
Some of us write poems
That are sunny and cheerful and bright
Some of us write poems
That are sad or as dark as the night
Some of us write poems
To get a point across
Some of us write poems
About a signifigant loss
Some of us write poems
About the emotions that we feel
And some of us write poems
So we, ourselves can heal
So why do i write poems
The answer is simple you see
Although i hope in a way they help you
Even more, i hope they help me

I'm a tad late in saying so, Tara --- but, Welcome to YPDC!
I adore poems about poets/poetry. For the record... I'd put myself in the 'healing category' as well - and because I do, I must tell you to keep writing, and don't ever stop.
