Innocent Slumber

Contributed by CarolinaBlue on Sunday, 3rd July 2005 @ 12:12:01 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

You lie there
unaware of my presence in the room
my eyes tracing over the soft lines of your figure
butter kissed skin aglow from the candle still burning
by the bedside
a deep desire to reach out and touch you
I refrain, afraid you will awaken from this peaceful slumber
so silent I stay and continue to watch
your chest slowly rising and falling with each breath
the rhythmic movement of your eyes beneath their cover as you retreat within your private dreamland
Do you dream of me the way I dream of you?
Your lips, so enticing
longing for me to kiss them
Your innocence possesses me
luring me closer
gently I brush the hair away from your face
watching it cascade softly onto the pillow
You emit a soothing sigh of pleasure
making my flesh yearn for the warmth of your body next to mine
subtle hints of perfume permeating from your skin
as if it had been immersed in a bed of roses
quietly I slide around to the other side of the bed
unclothed and eager for you to share in this swelling
of passion that has overtaken my body
I slip into the bed
pressing myself lightly against your body and gaze one last time at your angelic face
completely in awe of your innocence and beauty
I pause and refrain again from waking you
softly place a satin kiss upon your cheek and extinguish the candle. "Sweet Dreams my love" I whisper in your ear as I drift off to join you...
