"A Meeting at Twelve"
As I layed inside my darkened room
I knew the mid-night bells would harken soon
I peered deep into my bedside mirr'r
and quickly, soon, was I filled with fear
For I saw a man who wasn't there
As the rain began to tap with care
He didn't speak, nor did he move, but only stared
And deep into his fiery eyes I layed ensnared
"Leave me be spectre of my mind,
remove yourself and your presence un-kind!"
This I began to shout, I began to say
But he only smiled in a grimly way
that made my lonliness yet more alone
And turned this room into a catacomb
It terrified my darkest fears
And then he whispered in my ears
"Look above to the falling sky
and see your hope is signified.
Watch it fall and break apart,
it's broken more than your fragile heart.
And now your cursed when you lie in bed,
all you'll see is the Lady in Red
and next to her an un-aware man
who wouldn't even stretch out his hand."
Then I responded in the one way I knew,
"what, child of darkness, what must I do?
And when shall the twins that live deep within
fuse into one and let destruction end?"
I wasn't sure if my words he heard
But then he pointed to a deathly bird
And spoke the word of "nevermore"
The word that broke me forevermore
"Oh cursed shadow of the night!
Bringer of Chaos so empty of light!
You break my heart then break it more
with that lonesome word of 'nevermore!'
Remove from here your enmity,
remove the lies you speak to me!"
"I have spoken and you have heard"
This he said as he pointed to the darkened bird
"Creature of the moon, forshadower of torment,
away with yourself and your devilish glint!
Take your leave of my mind and thoughts
and leave me here no more distrought!"
He vanished then without a trace
And I felt the sorrows stream down my face
"Cursed silence, formidable 'mares,
futile dwelling, oh well of despair!
On this night death hath come, though not to take my earthly breath
But rather to make my earthly breath much worse than death!
But now the day is about to dawn
and just as death hath come and gone
So will I, under these shadows moonlight casts,
take my leave and take it fast."
No sooner then were these words spoken
was I upon the floor and broken
"And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted--nevermore!"*

Asthenia:
I love this arrangement.
What a dynamic story.
Its wonderful just how much the mind can take in, in an instant and then there we are.. the next level..day break.
Your write is very visual.
I enjoyed the speakers voice, it was very clear.
This is not a far-fetched story.. in fact very believable. Happens to me all the time.
My visitor comes.. yes, and hoping my words are heard. I stop trying to chase them away.
I very much like Edgar Allen Poe. For poems, The Raven is my favorite.. For a story , the Telltale Heart is my favorite.
