You tell me you were out picking persimmons,
I've yet to happen upon that tree.
"Why, it's obvious" you tell me
Alexandria always comes home with lemons,
pale, dimpled ones.
Skinny skeleton, plump with persimmons
Sweet on their own, soft and mellow.
Alexandria adds sugar cup by cup,
Stores crates of lemons in the root cellar
Feet away from sweeter fruit.
I'd have picked those yesterday
Now falling down for the chickadees to peck.
Alexandria's ade is sweet-n-sour bliss;
Crystals left on the lips, tastebuds erect,
Mounting sourness.

i think the previous comment left here was unfair.
Although difficult to relate to, (perhaps this was the intention), i am still strangely captivated by the private life you offer (whether fact or fiction). It is a solid first person account. There seems to be a display of two extremes. Or the combination of the two. Like the color grey. Bitter-sweet.
A very uncommon topic.
Interesting. |
