Into the grave

Contributed by Beni on Saturday, 2nd July 2005 @ 01:31:28 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

Standing at a great height,
Wishing I was higher,
Nowhere else to run,
Nowhere to hide.

Looking down,
Closing my eyes,
Nobody knows,
Nobody cares.

Stepping closer to the edge,
About to lose my mind,
Wishing there was another way,
Another day.

Nothing but darkness,
Filling my mind,
Filling my heart,
Nothing to stop me.

Just one more step,
And I fall into the grave,
Just one more step,
And I am once again no one.

Alright, now before I comment on this poem..

I chose to read this one.. because I have a great fear of dying.. especially to think that I could be laid down under the earth.. it just gets to me.. I have claustrophobia anyway, so perhaps one can understand my fear, if you have the fear... of death, and being trapped..

To me, though, I read it as the speaker is feeling the not being able to have the power over the difficulties of life.

The are the sentences that stand out for me.. as the reader.. give me some proof of .. there is hope, yet its quits if .. the speaker achieve their wish..

Standing at a great height,

Looking down,

Wishing there was another way,

Death is a part in all of our lives.. so in that sense, we all must accept it.

Standing higher keeps us from our lows and so we might miss that one step keeping us from falling in.

We are deeply evaluated by our friends and family, society, and there is no where to run or hide. So if we fall, we feel .. the last line..

Just one more step,
And I am once again no one.

which may implicate.. (suggesting a sort of proof) that the speaker has been there before..

And I am once again no one. (once again)

in the grave.. or at least about to miss that one step that will take the speaker down under.. feeling because we are shut down.. away from society.. that.. we are no one.. any longer..

It is very obvious.. to me..the reader has great insight to wanting to..

Standing at a great height,
Wishing I was higher,

which is the first claim in the preposterous knowledge (common sense) in the beginning of the poem.. that the speaker is only wishing (Wishing there was another way,) without exaggerating.. the dire interpretation of an end.. death.

Nowhere else to run,
Nowhere to hide. proves it..

and then.. the great loss of life going towards death..

Looking down,
Closing my eyes,
Nobody knows,
Nobody cares.

is what brings on (Nothing but darkness,)

Just one more step,
And I fall into the grave,

is the venting threat.. of frustration of not being able to stand up high.. but only wishing..

Standing at a great height,
Wishing I was higher,

This is an outstanding write.. very well written.. has a lot of detail put into it, that can allow the reader to understand why at times..

what the grave can mean.. above and below..

Stepping closer to the edge,
About to lose my mind,
Wishing there was another way,
Another day.

About to lose my mind, (sense of hope)

Nothing but darkness,
Filling my mind, (sense of hope)
Filling my heart, (sense of hope
Just one more step, (sense of hope)

Great write.. expressing the inner nature of things..

Into the grave..

the grave that is inside of us all..

Thank you for this great write..
