Raindrops

Contributed by purplerosepoet on Wednesday, 8th January 2003 @ 11:00:00 AM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

Alone I sit here watching the rain,
Droplets floating off into the darkness...
Where will each droplet find to rest?
How will my life change if I make the choice?
The night is cool and Autumn leaves fall,
Sparkling with wetness from the rain;
I sit here and remember all the choices made,
Trying to talk to a "higher power" to help me.
Surely if I were a raindrop like these,
I could float in and out of lives secretly,
But I am a person with a heart and soul,
The only comparison is the tears you see.
So, unlike the raindrops that disappear in the dark,
My existence is obvious and so real are my tears....
I cannot hide behind a cloud or the darkness,
Dealing with choices is a part of my life;
So, I will enjoy the serenity the rain brings,
And dream of being a raindrop that disappears.

Nice poem. I like the descriptions of fall and the rain. It gives the sadness and longing of the poem and good background.

Very interesting and definitely poetic. It reminds me of the movie "Blade Runner" when Rutger Hauer's character is talking of his memories while in a rain storm and says, "All those moments...will be lost...in time...like...tears in rain."

Hi purplerosepoet,
You really have a way with words. It was refreshing to read your poem in spite of its underlying sadness . Keep it up!
