She walked among us for many years,
Never once did she shed a tear.
She knew her life was very short,
The battle was long and very well fought.
She never gave up and didn’t give in,
Knowing well that it would soon end.
How could she describe her painful plight?
How very lonely she was at night.
Joe had passed and was already gone,
She had no one to turn to when the nights were long.
How she longed to see his face
And touch his hands with simple grace.
She knew that he waited inside the gate
And that soon he would no longer have to wait.
She was ready for that glorious journey
Where her and Joe would spend eternity.
She passed sweetly into the golden light,
No more darkness, no more night.
He met her at the city gate
And told her “Now I don’t have to wait,
For you are here and I’ve waited long,
To hear your voice in sweetest song.
Now we’re together, no more will we part.
Once again, one loving heart.
