War On Christmas Day

war

An eerie silence hangs around
Far across the battleground
Uneasy truce is on it's way
All because it's Christmas Day
Forget the horror and the stench
Those dreadful wounds behind the trench
Guns are silent, swept away
Death will be no more, today
Two men walk across the breach
Arms outstreched, across they reach
To shake a hand and share a smoke
Hope and tolerence, they evoke
Both men fight on different sides
Their two worlds are far and wide
Hate they put aside, away
Because today is Christmas Day
