Whisper a gentle lullaby
I sing to you to lull you to sleep
To push things away

To yourself tonight
I'm sorry i'm not there
Read this and know
I hold you at night
When no one knows

I'm sorry i'm not there
I've tried many times
But hearts hold me down

I've loved you since day one
Of your exsistence to me was known
But you couldn't see

I write to you
When i think you're crying

Then

The world got in the
Way
And i became a barrel
Again
You couldn't handle that

I hope he loves you now
Something i can't take away
I want to give your everything

But i know you have me
The
World
At
Your
Feet

Read this and know
I hold you at night
When no one knows

this poem reminds me of my father for a reason or another, because he was never there for me when i was little . it was always my mother reading me to sleep at night. i like this poem. i respect the way you wrote it. keep writing. i'll keep reading
