I Saw a Man...

Contributed by iceman81588 on Tuesday, 28th June 2005 @ 04:35:39 PM in AEST
Topic: spiritual

I look upon a cold dark sea and what do I perceive?
Only pain and agony, a web that evil weaves.
I travel down a lonely path on which I feel much fear,
Always thinking that at any time, evil may appear.

I stare upon a windy field and suddenly I see,
A figure traveling alone, this figure looks like me.
I walk up to this man I see and try to ask his name
This man though he does not reply, and continues on in pain.

I walk on and feel a breeze, as though there was a man
But when I turn around I see, nothing on this land.
Thus I then continue on, hoping to find essence,
But everlasting is this feeling of an unearthly presence.

This man I see still does not even recognize my being.
He continually looks back at me as if he may be seeing.
But then again he turns away, as though I don't exist,
And continues on his journey through this ungodly mist.

Finally I know that I cannot be alone.
Though when I look around I see but only grass and stones.
I call out "Where are you and why, do you torment me so?"
I beg him just to tell me if only so I can know.

He screams out to me with words I can barely understand,
And feeling torment in his words I reach out a helping hand.
Just as I lay my hand on him he falls down dead and cold.
As have many others been before him in this mold.

Only then when he replied, with his touching hand.
Did I realize the pain I felt forever when I'd stand.
I fell down cold and thus away, eternally left my breath
Then came upon me a gentle silence as I was overcome by death.

Iceman:

Very nice poetry... You carry out your purpose.. beautifully ..by suggesting all the feelings of fear that went with this figure traveling alone.

Your language is simple enough to understand the purpose of this poem.

The satisfying wholeness to this piece is a clear statement, also adjusted well for its purpose.. Fine with style.. I love it.
