Oh heart, beat out the cadence of time, for each passing moment,
Oh tears, wash away this sadness, for my joy is all but spent.
I turn back the hands of time, when this joy way yet at its youth,
My way was brighten with the beauty of his precious truth.
Precious Lord, let me not falter, in this fog of sorrow,
That I may grip this lighted candle and see a hope for the coming tomorrow.
Where oh where is the banner of victory, dear saints of God,
Let us gather ourselves with that same mind and with us he will trod.
The protuding liar lurks in the shadows each contagious sin,
Oh man, the Holy Ghost is pure health you must absorb deep within.
My very soul throbs for fellowship of God's precious little ones,
We recall the joy of song, the splendor of words, as we say all that God has done.
To honor my eders is respect of God's authority over me,
He has heard that which your heart has whispered, though hidden each sin he'll see.
What is stove without fire, a sun without warmth, this is you without him,
By what wind are you drifting, your flame does flicker and your hope grows dim.
How dreadful, the chastisement of the most Holy Ghost,
But now it's done, what confidence, as we walk with that ever present Host.
