When Death Came

Contributed by pixie on Tuesday, 28th June 2005 @ 12:43:33 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

When death came my Nan was scared,
But she was not alone, we were all there,
Holding her hand as she slipped away,
Never again to see the light of day.

She fought death off with all she had,
But her soul was already silently clad,
With an angels heavenly touch,
But Nan wanted to stay with her family so much.

Death wrapped everywhere it was all around,
Nan breathed in her very last sound,
In a blink of an eye she was gone,
In the distance angels began their song.

Her body lay so still, her hands so cold,
Her body looking so worn & old,
We all sat there not knowing what to do,
A sombre mood swept right through.

A chill, we all felt lost in the world,
The damage of death had now unfurled,
A shadow so deadly yet so quiet,
That we would now all sleep with every night.

Pixie, beautiful but so sad. You will always carry your Nan with you in your heart, The outer shell has passed on but the innermost will be waiting for you when it is your turn. Try not to grieve too long life still goes on.Hugs from bernard.
