Exit-signs
Glowing red
[Copper-tone; crimson and scarlet and burgundy and rubies and dripping and…]
Warm, yet cold, yet warm, yet cold, yet … burning.
Lust. Passion. Desire. Hunger.
– stop! –
Temper. Rage. Fever. Fury.
Drink down.
Cheap alcohol.
Smouldering; ache.
Shudders and sighs and shudders and sighs and – no more.
Exit-signs, stage[d]… left – wait, right.
Right? Right.
Certain? Convinced.
Spit-out, lip kisses, snagged on rusted wires.
Chemical smiles.
Torn tissue.
Loose skin.
In hand? Under control.
Bagged and brown and black and blue and – green?
Envious, no more.
Green and red – amalgamating. Sour and sweet and sour and sweet and green and red and greed and red and… everything’s coming up Christmas.
Midnight match-making, in futile; no point(s) – mere curves and bends and hollows.
Cursive and print, yellow and aged. Wrinkled, ancient.
And cold.
Spiritless – devoid of musical faeries, adorned in greens and yellows, not dissimilar from fireflies – and cold.
Cold, yet warm, yet cold, yet warm, yet cold, yet … burning.
Red; exit-signs.
There’s your cue; left or right or left or right, no matter.
Choose your stage.
And live.
