the past

Contributed by paula_kay23 on Friday, 24th June 2005 @ 07:45:11 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

The past is but a photograph
Hidden deep inside our minds
We freeze frame each moment
We do not want to leave behind

Dear moments held in time
Moments we call memories
each heart rendering moment
upon which the mind agrees

something that cannot be erased
neither can it be undone
Emblazoned in our minds
Is the path of life we’ve run

Conversation brings us all
To think of good times shared
Times of happiness and laughter
Times when others cared

Dark moments fall upon us
Somewhat out of the blue
we sit and collect our thoughts
the when, why, how, and who

inevitably the feeling of regret
runs through our veins
if only we could turn back
if only we could change

our past seems to make us
be who we are today
life is our longest journey
we can’t always go the right way

the past cannot haunt you
it stands there, still in time
the past is but a photograph
emblazoned in your mind

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
