This Much
June 23, 2005
Everything he felt, he told me through his touch
We swayed and when the walls began to beat with the slow music
He whispered, I like you...this much
And his hand rested, so softly, on my waist
He held me like I was made of glass
Tenderly, just enough to keep me from slipping away
As if I was so fragile I might break right there
He held me, and looked into my eyes
Something took hold, I couldn't look away
My heartbeat thudding, slowly making me aware
And then, my eyes, on his lips
Leaning in
For a kiss
And it was a...heart breaking, love making, slow sort of agony
I could feel his smile on mine
So strange and so new and so perfectly you
I just...fell
My heart shattered into tiny pieces
Silver and slipping along the silky floor
Settling into place like the light reflected from your face
Like stars in the skies, my heart on the black tile, still lies
And under the silver moon, where I met you
You said, I love you...this much
And showed me with a gentle touch

This is a great poem... fantastic.
He held me like I was made of glass
Tenderly, just enough to keep me from slipping away
As if I was so fragile I might break right there
Great part. This is what really grabbed me into the poem. Everything about this poem is really good...
