Tapped Imagination

Contributed by kie on Thursday, 23rd June 2005 @ 06:30:07 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

If letters cast in bottles can float upon the sea
I hope there will be poetry in heaven just for me
With cards of old nostalgia, the way it used to be
Each memory imprinted, oh the many I will see

If leaves can hang on branches thru a summer's storm
Why can't I be a mermaid and sunbathe past the shore?
I'd lie upon a rock and call Poseidon's name
Curved in subtle wonder, without a hint of shame

If cultures that are ancient developed aqueducts
My map of life needs laughter not to mention luck
The things I find important will not outlast my time
What is real achievement when measured by a dime?

If Alice found in Wonderland, wisdom with no sense
I smile to know that my advice is worth a bout a pence
Like twirling 'round a lamppost, dancing in the rain
My tapped imagination will never be the same

Imagination, indeed yes, but the madness is debatable (personally I think you have the same sort of madness that I do, just are a less -or more?- hopeless case).

Beautiful, wistful words. A bit inspiring, too. I never tire of these kind of poems. Well done.

Well its indeed a lovely poem.
Though your rhyming shame bothered me. it didnt flow well and felt choppy. and it feels as if you wondered a bit in the poem. and i think it should of had a subject matter.
but then again that is only my opinion.
it was a very lovely poem. well done.
4/5

And my dear Kie, neither will your poetry. For imagination is always half of what you write. And you have always had a wonderful knack....to see and imagine the unimaginable!!!!! This poem was so like you, Kie. Your poetry always sets me free while I read of your thoughts galore. What a marvelous thinking you are, and we all benefit from your lore!!!
Wonderful!
Warm love

I adore this! This, I think, is rather how a poet sees life.... that wonderful, wonder-filled if/then consideration of the world. I love the opening "if" to each stanza (especially the second stanza)... moreover, I concur (oh! I most certainly do!) with the thought process here. All things are possible, I think... and there are millions of fabulously wonderful (sadly, often overlooked) small-ish miracles that may be referenced as evidence of this. We're limited only... by our own (*sigh* all too often restricted) thinking.

Dream big, mermaid you --- and keep dancing!

~Snem~

I love this! A perfect write for sure. It's cute
but inspirational at the same time. The
rhyme and rhythm are perfect, it contributes
to the optimistic feel of the poem. I really
wish you had more poems on here.

Kylie, your mind is a thing of wonder. You're always telling me you have no inspiration, then I read something like this and smile, shake my head in wonder at how you can be so unaware of your talent. This is an amazing bit of writing from a pen filled with magic. More..I want more poetry from you !!!

Roses at your feet

An imagination as fertile as yours is such a blessing. Never be the same? Maybe not.
Be something better...enhanced...renewed?
I don't doubt it for a moment.
