Dog Analogy

There is poetry
in the way in which she is greeted at the door.
Through the door of her home she enters
and with her foot, shuts it behind her.
Up she looks to the top of the stairs
where sits a dark outline of her dog;
not stirring, nor leeping, nor waging its tail.
It just watches her every move
with an observant curiousity
unlike most pet dogs that usually
are more quick to greet their owners.
Tonight, it just watches her.
It doesn't acknowledge her.
much like him.
In the dark she thinks to the dog,
You can see me, quite clearly.
You can see me, just like he sees me.
Without anymore thought,
she walks on past the stairs
and through the downstairs of the house,
and leaves the dog to the nonconcious of her mind,
until they meet again.

I think the poem is a little boring. I understand the idea behind it, however, I feel as if you don't get any real emotion behind it. It leaves the reader wanting nothing. No offense. |
