Swallowed whole

Swallowed whole, I'm living
in the most serene thunder cloud
you've ever seen
In the mind's eye, my heart's hole
the worst place
you've never been
If silence speaks volumes
it must travel at the speed of sound
but my unspoken words haven't reached you
Then again, I could cry an ocean
and you'd drown in it, all the while
pretending you never knew
From my holding cell, the chains
of my own making, my eyes drift
from you to the sky
And if I could make one wish
upon the stars, it would be
to teach you how to cry
Because a life without feeling,
never knowing love or loss
is one that won't ever be whole
A heart untouched by grief
can only mean one thing
--one more wasted soul
So I'll tell you this,
reminiscent of my past is
the thunder cloud in which I live
but I'd take that over your ignorance
anyday, because I know what
it is to lose, what it is to give
And my serenity is acceptance
of who I am -- was,
and whatever may be
I look to the stars
and wish for the truth because
only this can set me free

Why has no one commented on this amazing poem? The fifth stanza is wonderful, 'the chains of my own making' this sheds light on what exactly this thunder cloud is and what it represents. Great write, keep posting! |
