Agony wells up within
A horrible reaction to, I am
Wish I could be reborn all over again
Internally I really matter
But everything is a reflection of the latter
All screened through a filter of inequity
Will the carving really make a difference
Ready to do its' bidding with indifference
Under the knife she went
Only takes the necessary action
Guided, not random reaction
Never the less, a bloody transaction
Nothing will ever be the same
The reflection staring back at her has no name
Will it be acceptable to replace
What once was a familiar face
Stares in astonishment, at who took her place
And only recognizes a stranger there

I can see surgery for reasons of disfigurement, but not for vanity. Seems rather self obsessive to me.

=], yes i agree with jarred that it was well presented. this seemed rougher than the previous poem i read, but i think thats actually good for this to rather be more cut up, pun intended. =] |

Terry, Great write. Glad you approached this subject. I would have to agree with MorningDove's comment. I feel sorry for those who feel they must change their looks for vanity purposes. It is sad to think one does not find themselves beautiful just they way they are. Peace to you my friend, Laura |
