looking but not seeing

Contributed by socialmisfit on Wednesday, 22nd June 2005 @ 03:59:19 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

once upon a time
there was this girl
we were friends for quite awhile
but here feelings for me i did misfile

she told me she loved me
but i opted to stay as friends
and things were fine this way
so i searched for love elsewhere day after day

i looked high and low
from ground to sky
but nothing worked out
and i kept asking why?

were is the one you promised me
i cannot find her
and in my blindness i did not see
the love i put aside

so i prayed and prayed
but all i heard was "cant you see?"
i did not understand here she was right beside me
what i looked for was right there in my friend mandy :D

I like this poem - for two reasons, I think you wrote it well and, as poetry tends to do to people, it made me relate. It makes me wonder why people are so blind like that sometimes. How can love be so easily overlooked or dismissed? But what matters is that you finally recognized it. I'm glad :)

Nice job.

Aww this is so sweet and I'm glad you finally saw who your heart ached for : )
I like the style with which you delivered this write. It's simple but effective. This is a very relatable poem as well; which is good because it draws the reader in...Nicely done!!
