Faces reflect a battered past,
Patched up but still evident,
Eyes are faded & bland,
Disfigured puppets sit alone,
Motionless.
A thousand strings,
Pull in different directions,
No protest, No Independence,
Reliant on others to show the way,
Aimlessly following their lead,
Their words are not their words,
Outspoken in silence.
Put on a performance,
Captivate the audience,
Painted smiles,
They dance and sing,
Misrepresented emotion,
End scene,
Their souls stolen,
Left lying in a crumpled heap.
We're disfigured puppets,
We're damaged goods,
Unwanted, rejected,
We sit in silence,
Our strings tangled,
Glazed eyes, painted smiles,
Motionless.
