The Little Girl Inside Me

Contributed by justme03 on Tuesday, 21st June 2005 @ 04:18:33 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

The girl I am now is not the girl I once was.
I look in the mirror and I can hardly find a
trace of my old self. That other girl got lost
somewhere and she’s never coming back.
She may be hiding underneath all this
makeup or somewhere hidden deep within.
Doesn’t matter where, she’s locked up and I’m
never letting her out again.
It hurts to see her gone, but I think I like my new
self better. There’s only room for one.
But there are days when I look in the mirror
and I can see where I put her.
I wink, she smiles and it is our silent oath.
No matter what I go through I can not and will not
ever let that little girl go.
She will always be inside me.
I see her when I giggle.
I see her when I cry.
That little girl inside me must never go away.
Simply because, if she did, I just wouldn’t be the same.

~Kortnie~

Wow, Kortnie, you write beautifully. Your poem really brought a tear to my eye and a smile to my face. What a super person you must be to be able to put it into words like you've done! Keep writing, you're very talented!

Warm regards, Susie:)
