CAROLYN

"CAROLYN"

Small neighborhood was ours,
Friendly people funny memoirs.
Mostly older ladies living alone,
Nosy, bossy, funny, judgmental zone.

Summers are beastly hot in Illinois
Montie home- schooled school boy.
Lots of friends at our place to play
I taught them poker, and they would stay.

Didn't play for money just fun and chips.
Old ladies couldn't come to grips.
Constantly harassing me for delinquency
Monitoring me every single day closely.

My dress attire was inappropriate also.
"Don't wear shorts!" Carolyn would bellow
Eventually it began to wear on my nerves.
Kindly never said a word, peace preserves.

"There she goes, not Miss America,
but Carolyn!"
All gussied up, straight to the bus stop,
long skirt cotton.
Oh, No, look again, back of her skirt
is tucked in her underpants.....
Frozen, I watched her as if in a trance.

I could have, I should have--yelled,
"Carolyn come back here dear!"
Revenge, unkindness, ornery to this day
not clear?
I allowed her to pass and never uttered
one single word!
I knew I should, I knew it would be right....
yet silently, I never bothered!

I watched her hike straight to the bus stop.
While I prayed aloud, "Dear God please
help me get past my doorstop!"
Now God is not one to be mocked, He
knew I didn't mean it.......
No blame to Him, but all the Credit!

"Please Dear God Forgive Me,
'Twas a sin I did commit!"

This is a true

"A lesson learned for all
the ladies who read this ditty.
After potty, check your skirt and
panties, especially if they feel bulky!"

*Sinful Smiles!*

I think my friend God has forgiven you for this one...He loves the repentent sinner more than the self-rightous shrew....and shows that you are only human and aware of your frailities which makes you only need him more...

Hugs
Shari

Oh I laughed so much dear ConSue - this is really so great, so truthful and I agree 100% with NoSaint, self-righteous critics should pay a small prize for their constant nagging and giving a hard time to the kind and good.
And, voila

"I taught them poker, and they would stay"

So you teach Poker?. I had already a hunch that you animals from Noah's Ark assembled for a Poker game. ll set for it. Right?

This is one of the most delightful works of yours and the picture of Carolyn, brings tears of laughter to the eye.
Deligjtful;! Kudos!
Warm love
Elizabeth
