My pain is mine. This I vow...

--------___________------------
Agony is my stock in trade…
In Texas, I could kill you if you tried to take it from me.
I could chop off your hands across an ocean or the equator.
The French used the guillotine long time ago.
Taking my pain could get you crucified even further back.
I might do worse if I catch you.
I might dip you in it, involve you.
Then it would be your pain, too.
No, it's best that you leave my pain untouched.
After all, I know best how to handle it.
I'm sick.
My tongue stings with hated words
for hated feelings.
Trapped,
Behind a broken record and sputtering,
And of my own making.
I cannot bear it any longer.
I will not stand idly by,
Watching her be torn apart
Between her insides and the outside world.
Am I weak?
Am I wrong?
Who am I,
To presume to stand up for who I believe in?
Condemned to stare,
If at only a reflection,
Is it not still pain?
Oh, brutal dagger,
End this.
End this now.
Enjoy my eternal thanks
While I can still give it.
How many chances must I give myself?
When she,
who was the only one there for me,
Is now writhing in pain?
How can I be asked to stand down
in my concern for her?
WHY?!?
clutch me closer, let me lay waste to all who oppose you.
this I vow..
