Forgive Me

I’m sorry I’ve betrayed you
I’ve joined the other side,
I tried to keep from it
But the feelings wouldn’t subside.
He was persistent,
Unlike anyone before,
And every day I realized
I was liking him a little more.
I pulled away at first
Tried to keep from falling
But before long
I had answered his calling.
I replied with a “yes”
After the dozenth time
But now that I’ve left you
I feel I’ve done a crime.
I was single for life
Forever, I was sure,
But now I’m taken
And there’s no cure.
I’ve become one of them
One of the elite, the few,
Giggly and happy
I don’t know what to do.
I’m in so deep
It’s above my knees
But I didn’t fall at once
It was more of an ease.
I didn’t know where I was headed
Or how I would land,
But I didn’t worry
When he took my hand.
He promised me happiness
A world with no fears,
A place of comfort
Full of smiles, not tears.
I’m sorry again
For leaving you alone,
But now that I’m here
I’m not sure how to condone.
I’m glad that I found someone
I wish you could do the same,
But trust me when I say
I take all the blame.
Love is pain
Unlike any other kind
But you must feel it
So later you aren’t blind.
You’ll choose to see things different
Because you want something real,
But it’s not about sights
It’s about how you feel.
