The yard sale

Contributed by foxfire44 on Sunday, 19th June 2005 @ 12:05:04 AM in AEST
Topic: HumorPoetry

I went for a drive in my car one day
And saw all theses signs that say

Yard sale, come and take a look
Nothing to expensive for your pocketbook

So I turned around pulled in my car
Making sure I was not out to far

you know what they say about yard sales don’t you
Some things maybe old some things bran new

I went to this sale to see what I could see
And boy was this old junk treasure to me

I walked all around to see what was there
I spied an old rocker filled with aged teddy bears

There were clothes of all sizes for young and old
Pretty pictures very vibrant and colored so bold

Some copper and pouter little nick knacks
Marbles and pickup sticks, even some jacks

What I found to be the best treasure of all
Was a very aged hope chest in the corner of a stall

Now some might say that it was junk
To me however it is a grand old trunk

You never know what you might find
You to should stop at a yard sale sign

Hello. I LOVE GARAGE SALES! (thrift shops too!) This is a really cute poem. If today wasn't Father's Day...I'd be out there searching. Have a good one.

(smiles from ear to ear)

this poem reminds me of those
lost, do nothing
Sunday afternoons
that lay waste
to the coming of the new week..
(although we try in vain to do
everything, all our own)

*Heaven must be filled with yard sales*

a most pleasant write indeed!

Splendid write. These yard sales take up many peoples weekends. I don't personally like them but I have seen what people have found in them. I do love silent auctions though.
