Another day, another time
lost amist to never find
lonely here and lonely there
lonely feelings not to spare
chances had and chances passed
I sit and wallow to the last
behind my wall that towers high
seems I've built it to the sky
beneath my ever watchful eye
Shunning all who come to near
controlling universal fear
is bringing me unto the end
my single solitary friend
who's been watchful just as long as I
beneath my ever watchful eye
behind my wall that towers high

I understand this well, I think, am going so far as to say. It's a very good way of putting things, and I think the human heart does this often, as a way of trying to escape the storms and wounds of the world. But it's none too good a refuge, as I take it you understand.
I'd be interested to hear your views on pride and dignity. Personally, I think it is that which makes us enter walls such as these. Myself, I've condemned my wall long ago, and am resolutely (if slowly) dismantling it, stone by stone.
A truly thought-provoking piece. Well done.

Oh,I know emotional walls. Some are straw and some are wood and some many a hurricane have withstood. That was the kind I built. Problem is, I can't seem to tear it down now. Fear and anxiety do strange things to our lives. I hope you find bad concrete in yours.

very good write. nice flow.
it seems that sometimes we get so busy trying to keep others out, we don't realize that we are actually keeping ourselves in.
