The Pain And Anguish We Feel As One

Contributed by Cynthia on Monday, 6th January 2003 @ 03:00:00 AM in AEST
Topic: Grief

The pain and anguish of a nation,
Touches the deepest part of your soul,
The pain and anguish of a nation,
Stirs within us all.

The pain and anguish of the people,
That has bruised our very soul,
The hurt and ressurection of the family,
We console them all.

The pain and anguish of the families,
Have touched us all,
Love, tenderness and understanding,
Touches the deepest part of your soul.

Our hurt and your understanding,
Can help heal us all,
The help and the healing of our two nations,
Can be seen as one.

The hurt and the healing are as one,
The dedication that we feel,
Of these two nations are as one.

The healing of the family,
On 9/11 has just begun.

The heart of the nation was damaged,
The heart of the nation was strengthened,
The heart of the determination,
Was strengthened with our ressolve.

The heart of the nation will be strengthened,
When the terrorists dissolve.

The heart of the nation is pure,
Together it washes upon the shore,
The ressolve of the people,
The blood that has been spilled,
The dedication of the families,
Is there still.

God bless our nations,
For those who need us all,
God bless our people,
And those who stand tall.

Democracy and personal freedoms,
God has granted to us all.

In our darkest day,
And in our loneliest hour,
Democracy will shine,
Like the 9/11 towers.

Cynthia,
I have yet to write a poem on 9/11..that day hit so close to home...two of my sisters work in NYC and one of my brothers works in DC...thank God they are all ok, but it didn't take the hurt and sorrow away for all those lost. I'm a US Marine, currently in Kuwait, I was part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and our war against terrorism.
You have such a great talent, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your poems with me and the world!
Christopher
