Neath of Death

Contributed by ladyfawn on Monday, 6th January 2003 @ 02:00:00 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

DUCKS IN THE MOONLIGHT

little hoodinis there they are again

quacking themselves happily up the driveway

little white rearends all wagging back and forth

bet cha didn't know a duck could wag its tail..

its snowing out there falling flakes in

little puddles of rain from yesterday

and the ducks play as only ducks can do

such a childish thing as a duck poem; childish to do.

.....Alas, then the crime in the yard.....

'Neath of Death

Where does the missing body lie?
'tis not upon earth nor in the skies
Oh, pastures are not admitting why
in the snows of winter my tears crytalized,

Dead by the feathers on the ground
hunting dog of bloodlust then around
early in her life she was told she could fly
so she leapt just to see if they were right,

Amid the howling frigid wind,
Quakers my duck lay bleeding in vain
finding in death a warm peace within'
and yet Quacks has not returned herein,

Forever to wear a sorrowed crown
as feathers in the breezes surround
my heart aches as I cannot bury her,

Where Dead Amid Forever...

'I wander alone in the breath of the night'

...in loving memory of the two sweetest ducks in the world... and all the animals waiting upon the rainbow bridge...

Hiya Thorns;
it started out as one of those you write and sit aside.. silly, fun, cute.. but when my ducks were killed .. was sitting here and the actual poem now is Neath of Death.. because I lost her.. a tribute to her..
Huggs always Nessa

Wow, now that's imagery, we have two ducks that come and swim in our backyard every once in a while, give them food, etc. They have even come up and take it from our hands now, it's really cool. Anyway, the second bit was so sad.

It really amazes me you can write with many different styles and yet they all seem to come out brilliant. Even this one written fairly childishly (not a criticism), just would capture their imagination, don't know about the second poem though, might freak them out. Well done my friend
