He Gave Me Nothing

I gave him a song.
He took the fragile words from my lips,
and wrote them down all wrong...
Broken notes flutter and bleed on weightless parchment.
I gave him a rose.
The velvet peddles were pinched between his fingers...
Where they blackened and rotted...
The stem thrown carelessly to the floor.
I gave him a poem.
He laughed at me in bitter contempt as though it were some
sort of joke.
The poem was lost on my lips,
as the departing message drifted downward into the
darkness.
I am a doll...
He places me on his shelf,
a pretty thing to look at...anything I say to him
hardly makes it past my own ears.
I am a piece of parchment...
Built for soaking in his words, and never throwing them
back at him...
Built for bleeding ink and being crumpled and thrown away.
I am a joke...
I say I'm leaving and perhaps he'll laugh at me...
Because deep down both him and I know...
That there is nowhere for me to go.
I gave him everything...
I gave him my heart...
But what is priceless in its tremendous value to me...
Is nothing to him...
Just something else to step on...
Just something else to own...
He gave me nothing...
He is a monster.

...wow. I know this all to well. But he shouldn't control you. We both should learn to stand on our own feet...fly with OUR wings...we both can't rely on a man that isn't the man we need. You always have a place to go...it is your choice if you go or not. In japan we have a saying. "the Loutis flower blooms in the mud" it helps me...perhaps it'll help you. Very deep write. I only hope my words are heard. |
