God Help Me

I did once upon a time desire that which I called "friend",
But now he has given me much pain,
I desire him no longer, I will not love him ever again,
For what I did so dearly love is now what I want to hate, but I won't,
What possesses him to despise that which loved him?
What makes him so bitter and bent that he breaks my heart, and his promise,
even though he possesses the foresight of the sorrow, and the deep wound he will cause?
What he destined to be I do not understand,
God help me.

The words are compelling and emotive, but well-structured and spoken. As ever, the Quenya will move the words in its direction, in order to translate, but that is no bad thing.

Lovely words.

Andrew

Painful descriptions sometimes come out as the most poetic. Usually it is described through forms of lost or mistaken love. Once you find true love (if you believe in such a thing) you will write anthems about how glorious it feels. When that time comes I will hire you a court composer to write music for your poems.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
