Church hats and holding hands,
Subtle smiles, and wanting to dance.
Copy cats and 12:30 AM chats,
When you're past your curfew But finding out that
"someone finally understands you" Is enough to keep you from leaving.
Three nights in a row, that you've taken me home.
Apologies won't be accepted-only because you claim to "like it".
Seperation anxiety will have a hard time steering clear of this one, baby.
And no one is noticing, but me.
You read my mind, Please, come visit me.
Old sappy love songs, and perfect-sense movie themes,
that we belt out through the windows of summer heat.
This is a dream to be reckoned with.
Calling me "your girl" and I just don't know yet.
Saying it's cold and you keeping 80% of the heat inside of my head.
We're heading for danger in a side smashed collision,
And I'm the passenger.
We've scooted too close,
And you refrain from taking "small chances"
With the sole purpose of keeping me safe.
How charming.
Escaping from the devil,
And he'll never catch us now.
He's so far behind,
And it's no surprise-somehow.
(Somehow) when everyone leaves, we'll make our own summer plans.
You're not so shy, it'd be like glass on top of glass,
Crystal clear without one single scratch.
And I'll just pass you a subtle smile,
And we'll share a cup of the same colored eyes,
And you know...It's been awhile,
Since someone made me up a really great lie.

Beautiful poem! I really enjoyed this! I love the lines:
"Church hats and holding hands,
Subtle smiles, and wanting to dance.
Copy cats and 12:30 AM chats,
When you're past your curfew But finding out that
"someone finally understands you" Is enough to keep you from leaving."
and:
"And you know...It's been awhile,
Since someone made me up a really great lie."
Beautiful!

I'm going to agree with the other commentor on those wonderful lines you penned. Masterpiece like this one DOES NOT deserve to be here. What a fantastic piece. Glad I read it. Peace to you, Laura |
