heavy, heavy hopes
your face falls beaneath the light
eyes drip as your heart
tries to hold
hold her through the night
as you hold yourlove away
empty laying on your bed
empty living through the night
shadows dancing on the walls
beneath pictures of possible vows
yet everything feels
so impossible to keep
sleep
like lovers never sleep
eyes locked on the corridor
behind the door of your bedroom
please sleep
forget that the morning cannot save
morning lights up the cave
you chased your shadow into
sleep
heavy, heavy hopes
sink into the hole
you tore in search of something
when there was nothing you could find
