The Poet of the Sea

Contributed by wachumiri on Monday, 13th June 2005 @ 05:23:59 AM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

Waves of Words have traveled far
To lighten up our world
From glory’s gates they now descend
To bring the beauty of their world
To lowly human life
But hurricanes and gales of thought
Impede their great attempts to fly
They toss and turn these lovely Words
Until, reduces to driftwood,
They drift unto our shore
Yet still some salvaged from the skies
Enduring pain and loss
Have peaceful rest and haven found
In poet’s pen they hide
When time has come and winds have changed
And all fits into place
The Words will wander once again
Inspired deep within
By mighty ocean god
Our Poet of the Sea

The Spirit of the sea must indeed be a Poet

reading that one single line just made the poem that more special to me.
indeed the sea is something, i think, every poet writes about. and even with poems as beautiful as this, its still not close to reality.
I think I must of felt time stop while reading this, or it could have been my heart. Who knows.
Impressive piece of work and by far the best I’ve read today.

You should take a massive amount of pride in this piece, you really captured so many strong emotions here, and your message after the poem was strong conclusion (of sorts). I'm just surprised more of that message wasn't in the poem itself, but then again it was, because that's exactly what the poem was about in my opinion. You truly did describe a the Sea as a poet, and did it with a strong level of subtlety matched with very literal meanings. Quite the paradox I've made to describe your poem. I think I'm going on for too long, but just so you know, I really enjoyed reading this poem. Well done.

*nods* I just went to the ocean on the 4th, and sure enough it gave me some poetry, even in the middle of a dry spell.

You should see Sunset Beach. It's a cove of sorts, no waves inside, but with rocks far out on the edges. Very nice.

Well, this do be a good piece of work. Methinks you've fixed those last lines I thought sounded wrong - "mighty ocean god" is brief enough, but still descriptive. Keep it up.

Andrew
(hope it's hot down there, sinner!)

Great Poem and I can see your allusions to the bible in it. I have not read your poems in a while and thought I'd check up on you.

Strange reading this so soon after Katrina. Strange at how your words seem to foreshadow the destruction, and inevitable rebuilding to come.

I really like this poem. The imagery was absolutely wondeful. The meaning of the poem is great. The only way to survive is to write, and I guess many of us feel like that at times. You captured so many emotions and thoughts in your poem. I truly outstanding piece. Nice Write.

I absolutely love it when words find their way to paper, but better yet? I love it when the poet arranges them exquisitely upon said paper...as you have done here. Perfect penmanship!
