Crossroads
June 12, 2005

I can only feel this way because I really truly care
It's a pit in my stomach deep inside filling with caution
And I just want to reach out and pull you into my arms
Because that way I know nothing bad will happen to you
What you say worries me and I don't know what to say
To make you see I'm scared for you
All I want to do is see you happy
But here I am at a crossroads
Watching you step into possible danger
While you're looking to me to reassure you
That everything is going to be okay
And I don't know what to say
Because I'm not sure that it will be
I feel like shouting to you as you walk away
Come back, my friend, just stay
But I know that you must move forward
And I can't keep you safe all the time
So I'll watch you go with my concerns tucked inside
And say goodbye to a little piece of you I knew
Hoping you'll come back just the same
But if you don't, I know that
Even if I couldn't save you from a pain
I can promise that I'll always be here
Waiting at the crossroads to hear what you've got to say
Good or bad news,
I'll always be here for you
