°°°Mirrored Destiny-3°°°

Contributed by OreO on Sunday, 5th January 2003 @ 02:40:00 AM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

I found my way back to my car just to find
There were kids covered on it and saying these lines
She done stole the car all the way from Texas she drove
I then said to them "Shoo" this is somthing u dont know

.*.

They scattered like wildfire and laughed at the fun
And i smiled really big and away they did run
I drove down to where the World Trade Center fell
And i offered my help as i held a small bell

.*.

They turned my offer away and then they said
They had plenty of help as i gently shook my head
I got in my car as my face filled with tears
The people around were so scared with a fear

.*.

I think that this time i spent trying to help
That somehow i was meant to be there i deeply felt
It's sad when you see people crying in pain
It cut's like a knife when you see they are maimed

.*.

I slept in my car for the 3 remaining days there
And awoke every morning to meter maids mean glares
But now it was almost time for myself to depart
From Manhattan that's so full of pain and heart

A woman she offered me room and board there
But i told her i didn't live anywhere near there
She said i dont care you look cold my child
And i hugged her and drove away into the night

.*.

I drove around until Lincoln Tunnel was found
And i knew that i had to go through it somehow
It hurt me real deep as i knew it was the end
Of my journey to help and my love to send

.*.

I felt something with me as i drove on through
And i cannot explain or express it to you
I came out from under this long tunnels grip
And a single thing i dont remember from this

.*.

I don't remember my drive from the tunnels exit
All i remember was how i linked my world to it
I could not begin to say how i drove or slept
But 3 days later i looked to my mother who wept

.*.

She said i was dirty and tired and weak
And my body was full of black ash from the streets
She said God sent Angels to protect you my child
And she hugged me in tears as i lived in denial..

Hey, OreO I liked this poem I havent read the other 2 poems, but I am sure they are all as good as this one was. While I was never in New York after the towers fell. Some friends went in December to man the prayer stations. They said the hurt was unbelievable and the smell of charred human flesh was overwhelming they were all touched. One kid who went used to always bully me when he came back I could see an amazing change in him. I felt pain and confusion in this one. I thank you for your loving, caring heart. I truly believe you are a gift to everyone who crosses your path.
Thanx for this poem OreO I enjoyed it a lot. Just remember what u saw in New York often happens every day to ppl in other countries.

OreO,
What can one say!
Maybe I should have commented on the previous two sections of this trilogy, but wanted to wait till the finish.
You are already aware of how talented you are, but this trilogy lifted you to another level in my estimation.
One of the best writes I've read.
Congratulations

To truely know ourselves, I believe we must look at the lives that we affect, and how our actions reflect upon our loved ones.

A very good read,
wordsy.

Oreo, you are a caring, loving soul. What you did may count more in the long run than perhaps others who were there. I'm sure that this experience left you emotionally and physically drained for a long time. You know what, my friend. God knows what you did and he loves you. Dot
