The truth is toxic for your dreams
As his words are for my soul
It was never about envy or jealousy
My past never seemed to heal
And I never got a thrill out of your pain
So look at me and scream that I'm vain
But my heart screamed love
And my mind would get lost
In a timeless place of happiness
He wouldn't let go
So neither would my soul
In his hands is all the control
Of my tears and smiles
Life is not fair
It leaves us bare
Naked and cold
So I pass, with no regret,
Almost unbearable heartache
This is my sin
So you think
Because I couldn't win
I didn't want you to
But to be honest, for once...
...It was never about you.
