The Rose

Contributed by FallenAngels on Saturday, 11th June 2005 @ 04:09:32 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

I met a man in the cemetary
His eyes were cold and dull
It seemed like his life had been sucked dry
The only life
Was the single rose in his palm
Held tightly, so nothing would let it go

I had to ask
Who do you visit?
He looked up at me with a blank stare
He proceeded to tell me

There was a boy and a girl
He loved her more than life itself, but
he would never tell
If another man is holding her in his arms,
He didnt want to see
If another man is the one kissing her goodnight
He didnt want to know
so he tried to let go

And the years went on, and the time passed slow

And he would see her now and then,
hurt took over his soul
He didnt want to push her out
He didnt want to let her go
So he didnt
And he tried to let her know
They would walk, and make talk
And when he would get closer
She would as well
She wanted him near, and she loved him dearly
He was a good man
She would say to anyone who would walk her way

But something snapped
He was too afraid
So he pushed her away
And she left again for another day

And again time passed by....

He remembered the call
When he heard her sweet voice
And his heart nearly flew through his chest
I'm getting married in June She said
I needed you to know that I want you to be there
And I need you to wish me the best
He couldnt catch his breath.

The man she loved was not a kind soul
The man would hurt her in a second of rage
He wanted to scream and tell her no
And tell her to be with him instead
And that she would never be hurt with him again......

But he had done so much to this angel
And if her happiness she found
He would not take it away
Not this time
Not this one more day

So life went on, without his love
And everyday he ached for her near
He hated himself for running away
Knowing love was his greatest fear

He stopped...
Where is she now? I asked
He head went low, and his eyes shut down
Shes laying with the angels and running through the clouds
He pointed to the sky
With tears in his eyes
Pushed down the stairs one too many times
By the bastard who she loved so much
And now she flies higher than she ever dreamed to fly
He put his head down in shame

If I would have been with her.....
I am the one to blame

He walked away from that garden, with a rose attached to his hand
And he layed it down on her quiet grave
Knowing he would never feel love like he had for her again
