A thing called “Love…”
What is this?
Is it a feeling we have that oftentimes fades away?
Is it a word we use to describe people that we supposedly care about, but then throw away?
Is it an adjective we corrupt that inflicts pain on ourselves for a few moments of joy?
Why does something so peaceful, caring, joyful…cause so much pain?
What is “Love”?
Love
Is a decadent emotion that only gets worse with time
Love
Is a disintegrating attraction that proves fatal more often than not
Love
Is a fading appeal that contradicts basic means of common sense
Love…
A contrary happiness that ends sooner than it begins
Maybe a waste of time
But the reward may be worth the pain

I believe that much of the confusion about love is actually due to the English language's poverty, in only having one word for different things. What is love? What if we had different words for, say, selfish love verses selfless love?
I think that is the discerning difference. Whether we are in it for ourselves, or actually have the other person's best in mind, and are willing to give, rather than take.
A thought-provoking and interesting piece. Keep writing!
