The Heart of a Scorned Angel

Contributed by Pats4eva7 on Thursday, 9th June 2005 @ 05:07:23 PM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

A pure, innocent being,
So lovely and full of light.
Was once upon a time so hurt,
Dragged down by her wings into the night.

As she peered down from her heaven,
She spied something so dark.
A little twist, a little difference,
But there was an immediate spark.

Her heart soared so high,
As she fluttered down below.
Sneaking and hiding,
So nobody will know.

This little angel fell in love,
With a beast from hell.
She knew it was wrong,
But she cant help the way she fell.

His voice so soothing,
His eyes so blue.
Love filled up her heart,
There was nothing she could do.

This little angel's love afair,
Was wrong in more ways than one.
But in her cloudly mind,
She could think of none.

Her aura of white was corrupted,
As it surely faded to black.
He caused her tears of tormet,
As she took the knife and began to hack.

Hes damaged her soul,
And bruised her heart.
For she had no idea,
He'd maul her apart.

He wasnt so sweet as he lead on,
As the angel cried herself to sleep.
Screaming and begging her Lord,
Asking why she weeps.

She no longer sings hymns of happiness,
Her songs are melancholy and blue.
How her lovely soul goes numb,
Were her feelings ever true?

She wallows away in her corner,
Alone, cold, and bare.
The demon ripped her heart out,
And yet he couldnt care.

She stands before him,
As mascara drips from her eyes.
She wanted to know one thing,
If he could only tell her why.

Maybe if she knew the reason,
She could rest easier at night.
Instead of tossing and turning,
As she's turned away from the light.

She cuts herself to sleep sometimes,
The blood soothes the pain away.
She knows it isn't right,
But she cant live like this and stay.

She now is tainted,
As the scars lie across her arm.
God frowns with disapproval,
As she copes with self harm.

Shes no longer pure enough for heaven,
So she wastes away, alone, in hell.
Begging for forgivness, pleading for redemption,
She couldnt help that she fell.

So broken, so damaged,
The heart of a scorned angel you see.
All along, all this time,
Just happened to be me.

This is an amazingly beautiful poem. It's intense and even though I knew this angel was the narrator all along, it was still shocking to read the line 'All along, all this time, Just happened to be me.' The comparison of a demon tricking an angel, to an abusive relationship is also clever. All over, an awesomer poem! Keep writing!
