Being brought up
With a feeling of burden
Hovering over my brunette head
Being told too much
For a child to know
Being too introspective
And conscious of the underbelly
Has made me bitter and petrified
Still I make it through
A significant part of life begins
Excited for the future
Not wanting to repeat others past
Previous worries has dragged me down
Sitting on my bed with closed books
Afraid to open and challenge my intellect
Mother tells her doctor
I sit on the leather chair
Waiting to be called it
Noticing the nail grooves from a previous patient
What is going to happen to me?
Being with the doctor, dainty and elegant
She begins I speak, I began to cry
I cried for reasons my mind couldn’t fathom
But reasons only my heart knew then
