Secrets of the Night

Two bodies wading in the water,
The weight of the world so far from here.
Oh, to leave our sorrows on the shore;
Go quietly in search of something more
Escape the pressure of our pessimistic fear.
Your arms wrapped around me and the moonlight,
Two shadows basking in the afterglow.
Tonight if this feels like love;
What does it matter to either of us?
If the morning greets me with regret I’ll let you know.
My head lying on your chest in the warm summer sand -
Two used to bes taking comfort from each other whether wrong or right.
Everything that we have been running from;
Pales in comparison to what we have done.
Romancing in the dark, then resting heart to heart,
Thanking our lucky stars for the secrets of the night.
