In the Midlands, among our ruins

In that coziest of brick estates
Everything became crystal clear
Clarity for what should be voiced
To each of those warm characters
Clarity in just how lifeless
Our thinning connections have become
Its flowing down now
In the saddest of predicted blues
Crisply focusing in the platinum
Beautiful tears
Which will probably never frame your face
It matters not
If they are impressed
If they have not one positive impression
Now that you find nothing of value
Isolated
And as physically unresponsive
As I just weeks before
Must all have been
Some divinely constructed dream
And you an apparition
I knew soon after that first, alcohol-washed kiss
Nothing dreamed would come to me
