Unsung Hero Saved With Beauty

Topic: StoryPoetry

A chest with a lock
Shadow and smoke from within
Surprising motives that drive you
Wake up and find that you must begin

A maze
Twisted and turned to the end
Eternity just to find a way
Jumping through hard times, from friend to friend

Compromise your happiness
Bite the bullet and try to pretend
Smile even though they kill you
A sword through the temple, blood marked on a letter they would never send

Caught without words to tell them
They whisper after you've turned your head
They wish for you to return to them
In reality they are already dead

Burn the villages as you travel
Tyranny and riches at their best
Let them get the best of you
A fortune piled so high, you forget all the rest

You find that it's forbidden
Tears stream with no telling to where they will end
The shadow and smoke will consume you
Such a dark place and no sign of a friend

A hassle you'd rather not deal with
Toss the chest to the ground
Lock yourself in a familiar surrender
Ignore the cries for mercy, and not utter a sound

Struggle for self preservation
A sword stuck between the ribs of the cage
Blood stains the ground beneath you
Whisper a thank you after your bloodshed of rage

Find a weaker tendency to comply with
Search for new values that were left unsaid
They'd rather starve you slowly
Awake the next morning to find you alone in the bed

Decapitate the leader
Grab the reigns of a faithful steed
Cry out for all of the innocent people
Give them exactly what they need

Find satisfaction in your duties
Cut them with a smile on your face
Such simplicity you find in killing
As you move so swiftly from place to place

Friends and loved ones will follow
Most will never find there way
You will see more than all of them
One thousand years pass as if one day

If only you hadn't found the chest
And cursed yourself and all of your friends
Shadow and smoke surrounds you
Wisks you away before the story ends

Low over the treetops
Power beyond your wildest dreams
Awake to find yourself alone again
And nothing is ever as it seems

Friends become foes all over again
Time folds into the seams of your mind
Chains that will never release you
A sword that keeps you to your kind

Keep you well, said the sword
As inability takes it's hold
You've never felt so alone and its awful
A taste of copper and it tastes so bold

Wasteful tension reminds you
Sadness and apprehension accompany each passing day
They tried their best to follow
But time kept them from finding the way

It's sad to think of the whispers
Their prayers to keep just before they died
You never told them your answers
You never really tried

Cut them down with passion
Bloodthirsty and it was your way
Cut yourself just to feel them
And down beside her you lay

Tools of deception
Incomprehensible sighs
No need for an answer
For in the end, my darling, the answer always lies

This is the story I told to them
They laugh and mock me as they will
But I remember the looks on their faces
Caught in surrender and fear, I remember them even still

I cut them down with pure tension
An evil sword with a mark across its crest
I swing with utter contempt tonight
I awake the next morning and move, always forgetting the rest

No need to worry tonight, my darling
I have not heard word that its your turn
For when that time is upon you
I will choose for myself to burn

Such beauty is possessed within you
I wouldn't dare ruin such a thing
I would cut down the most righteous of heroes
Before I clipped an angel's wing

I take heed to the wisdom of old ones
And I fear no mortal enemy in this place
I shall sleep once more this evening
Next to you, with a smile on my dying face
