Broken and Torn

Contributed by Triple on Monday, 6th June 2005 @ 11:33:50 PM in AEST
Topic: drugabuse

They came during the night
Took what they wanted
Leaving me beside the road
Broken and torn
Alone and scared
Lost so far from a friendly face
My soul torn
These wounds would not heal
The ones that did would be a constant reminder
I gave up
I was tired and wanted to sleep
How could I get back what was mine
Then you came along
You would not have any of that
You made me start to fight for what was mine
It hurt going back to where it had happened
Only way to start the healing
When I hurt I lashed out at you
Not knowing if you where one of them or not
Loving you with all my heart
Not wanting to so I couldn’t be hurt again
I couldn’t take that again
So little was left
Each unspoken word hurt so
Spoken words couldn’t compare
You waited patiently
And gained my trust
By your soft and loving voice
Tender and nurturing touch
You’ve helped me heal
Showing me how to love
I never realized till today
How much I love you
Needing you to help me heal
I’ve caused you so much hurt
Hurt from my own
Which you help to heal
And now I need to do the same for you

Your structure and rhythm need work. If you got those down this would be a powerful poem with a powerful message.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
